Guys I hope someone has some info in this piston #. Scoggin & Dickey nor GM can do anything with it. I purchased this engine sight unseen for $500.00. Went later that night and picked it up. It has 990 rectangular port heads, block casting number is a 361959 and the casting date is 76 and the casting date on the heads were 74. The block is std. bore.

I am trying to determine what compression the pistons are. Your input is needed. Thanks !!!

Not alot of info but , i joined so i could pass on info i remember seeing maybe it will help . I've read a few things about this piston number .

" TRW L-72 replacement pistons used that number . Compression would be between 11.2 and 11.5 depending on chamber size, quench, gasket thickness, etc... That is with Closed chambers of 108 to 110 cc. Dome is about 23 cc. " From the first link below ...

990 head is a 118 cc chamber head so your compression will be less . These links have the info above and maybe some more . Hope this helps in some way for info you need
