After 30+ years I am going non original wheels on one of my 69's! American Racing VN805 Blvd. 17x8 on the front and 18x9.5 on the rear with 4" and 5.25" backspace. . . .I think. The question is, is this an acceptable backspace and what size tires would you guys recommend. I do not want the rubber band look but as much sidewall as not to rub. The car currently has Vette wheels, 225x60 & 245x60. I like the BFG G force wheels. Thanks for your input, I know this topic is always discussed but I never paid attention. . . .

For the fronts you will want a 235 or 245/45/17 and the rears go with a 275/40/18 on rear with those wheels.

I just looked up those wheels. The problem I see is that you are limited to you backspacing choices. It looks like they are only offered with a 0 offset (4.5"/5.25") in those sizes. +6 would be ideal.

If you went with those wheels, you might have to go narrower on the tire to avoid scrubbing the fender/wheel openings.
