I have a 91 RS with a 305 TBI. I am building a 350 for it and i want to keep the existing feul injection to save money. I am trying to make 300hp and i was wondering if there was something i could do to the TBI to make it run good with the 350
Some general information.
The 305 TBI engine is generally the LO3 engine. The 350 TBI is the LO5.
You can probably get away with using the same TBI but replacing the chip in the ECM with a LO5 chip so that the injection will be calibrated for the bigger engine. The TBI is more flexible than the TPI which injects X amount of fuel based on a preset fuel map. The TBI can still sense airflow sort of like a carb. If nobody else answers before too long, you can go to the autopart store or look up the required injectors online for each engine and see what they're rated at.
In addition to the chip you might need the bigger injectors as well, which would fit into the old TBI.
Double check me on this, but it's probably not as complicated as you want to make it.
I have an old 2bbl Holley projection throttle body with injectors sitting out in the garage if you want it. It flows 670 cfm which would be better on your 350 than the smaller 305 TB. I don't know for sure that it would plug right in to your existing wires, etc, but I believe that it just might. Would be kind of cool if it did - maybe some else would know for sure. I could also send a pic if you want, just shoot me an email.
