I happened on a "best offer" parts car that is a 68 as well and has same engine drivetrain as mine. Might purchase and strip. (also has p/s that would come in handy) Any help is appreciated. Thanks-Dan

I believe that there are significant differences in the firewall design between a/c and non a/c cars. You may be able to make it work but it would mean some significant cutting. Both kick panels are different (be sure to mount the RH panel before installing the heater box.) A vacuum tank is mounted to the left of the firewall wiring harness connection, requiring LH fender removal. You will have to remove the RH fender as well to mount the evaporator box. Most of the stuff under the dash will have to be removed in order to fit all of the controls, ducting, cables, and electrical. It's a pretty serious undertaking.

If you want AC, save yourself a lot of time, headaches and money and go for the Vintage Air kit. It's simple, effective, and comes complete for $950. I know several people that have gone this route and are very happy with it.

Thanks for the replys. That does sound like quite a handfull. Parts car was pretty much there.Base 68 v-8 coupe pretty complete though. Maybe I can convince the owner to sell me the spare and jack and other nicknacks if he's got em. I'm in the middle of a disc brake upgrade right now and am going with the 4-pistons. Trying to keep it OE equipped-Thanks again-Dan

I am not sure but I think you might have to relocate the heater core inlet and outlet hoses on the fire wall. One of my friends installed A/C on a non A/C car 69 camaro and he had to do this. But it was not hard to do.

its not all that hard just get the measurements of the donor car firewall and cut yours then the rest is unbolt old parts and bolt on donor parts the factory a/c would look more orignal.
