How hard is it to replace heads. How can I tell if mine are bad?

That is a difficult question to answer. What are your mechanical abilities? To someone who does it everyday the cars you are working on would be a pie job, but to a novice it could be pretty intimidating. Which car are you going to be working on? What is the reason you think you need to replace the heads? Do you have the proper tools? If you are willing and have some mechanical ability along with good directions it shouldnt be a big deal on an older car. You can email me directly if you want and I'll try to answer your questions. Its the camaro. I am thinking of the vortec heads. I am pritty mechanical. I fixed my alt by my self. If I get a book on how to do it like adjusting the springs, timing and lifters. I think I should be ok.
