That works well.
I put vaseline on the firewall then cleaned the box surface and laid a thick bead of rtv slicone on the box and bolted up, not quite all the way...then tightened after 3 or 4 hrs the last turn.
The vaseline (can use bearing grease) stops the sealant sticking to the firewall for easy removal at a later date. and one doesnt have to reseal...a perminent gasket.
Also smear a little vasline on the bolt shafts.
This method can also be used on drafty widow/door frames around the house, even used it on the old oven when the seals had gone....Oh and the diff cover.
