Members,

Hello my name is Tony and I reside in El Paso, Texas. Yes, the city right across the border from world’s most dangerous city (Juarez, Mexico) yet the city is ranked the second safest city in the nation by size. The law enforcement and military community here does a great job keeping us nice and safe while we sleep. Go FIVE O. I am the proud owner of a 67 350 SS Clone. I rescued her from a soldier here who planned to turn her over for a profit but found the cash well ran dry. He in turn bought her from a gentleman in town who duck taped and bailing wired her to near death. An example of his handy work: he used double sided tape to stick on the emblems. The first thing I did was bring her home and clean her up. The soldier parked her outside on base and didn’t bother to cover her up during a sand storm. I vacuumed out two Wal-Mart size plastic bags full of dirt out of every crevice I could but I know I still have more sand to find. The next thing I did is change all her fluids because I know sand can find its way into places you wouldn’t believe. Luckily for me I did not find any sand in the engine or tranny. I bought her new shoes and soles because she was running in handy me downs. The next thing I did is upgrade her ignition system to an MSD to include; 6AL box, PRO Billet Dist, 8.5 wires and new plugs. She was not treated well by her previous owners but surprisingly she has not bitten me yet. I plan to do her right and am shooting for a Pro Touring look. I am going to try and keep her as original as possible but there are some upgrades I can’t do without such as discs all around, a/c, power door locks and windows, 00 to 02 seats, power steering, and possibly a two inch slam. Of course she will get a make over but I haven’t decided on what color. I am torn between a copper tone tan or a sterling metallic grey. Night and day wouldn’t you say? She will also be getting a new interior and luckily the rust I have found is just superficial. I am planning to Rhino line the trunk, interior and under carriage but that’s not set in stone. The engine bay will get a nice satin black and all wires will be covered accordingly. I will take pictures as I go along and I am hoping to have her done within a year maybe sooner. By the way, I paid $10500 for her and am planning to put another 10 into her. She deserves it.

I am glad I found this website because there are two very important facts I have learned during my time here. The love the members have for their cars and their willingness to help others. Most of my questions have been answered by searching the threads and the work others have done will save me money and time. One concern I do have is repairing the glass on the passenger side that was sand blasted by the storm. Has anyone had any experience with Eastons products? I would like to repair the glass if I can because it will eat into my budget. Thank you for your time and I hope you will have me as a member. Good day to all.

Yo Tony, Welcome to TC. Eastwoods products are alright for the handy man. You can try the kit to polish out that window, but new glass is the way to go. The world looks a lot better with clear non scratched glass.

Welcome, Tony. :beers: Sounds like you've got something to keep ya busy for a while. I'd look at other products other than Rhino-Lining the trunk/bottom. That stuff is pretty thick and will add allot of weight to your car. Good luck!!

Thank you John and Brian. I haven't begun the tear down yet so I have time to decide.

I suggest you replace the Glass with New, why spend the money and time trying to remove the scratches and Chips, would bet you would end up being dissatisfied, Besides New Glass does not cost that much, not being smart but if you payed $10,500 for a Project Camaro, then I would spend another One to Two Hundred Bucks and buy new glass for your ride, This is just my personal opinion, but why do it over, do it right the first time...................................

Got you loud and clear. I was hoping I could save the glass but the local experts wont even touch it. I will try to find the glass in town but so far only the windshield and rear glass are available. Add it to the SOB list. I know the list will only get longer but I expected that. Just adds more reward when she is done. Thanks.
