I recently purchased a 1969 Camaro VIN 124379L509180
Cowl tag
ST 69 12437 LOS 142907 BD

TR 712 52B PNT

11B K230

This is what I have for info, please correct me me if I am wrong.

Body Color Garnet w/blk vynl top
Blk interior
RS/SS 396 w 4spd

The engine in it is NOM. I did find a block with 4 bolt J-1-8 for numbers. What other info do I need from this block to make sure it is correct for my car?

Any help with my new car would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I have a 396 car 400 units from yours. The casting number I think should end in 272 off the top of my head. That is an October cast block so it dates nicely.
Enjoy the site!

This is the info I have on the block:

4 bolt block J-1-8 10/1/68 clean .030 over with mark for $1575.00, one sleeve from a valve

The motor that is in the car is dated ''66 or '67, and is finished and looks and runs excellent. Would it be wise to buy this block to have a numbers matching?

Also do I need the "J" code to determine what HP it is?
