Is that "LI" really 'IL' ???

... the partial could be;
1 - Chevrolet Division
9 - 1969 year model
2 - Saint Therese Assembly, Canada
the rest would be the unit sequence number of the VIN
... if the numbers are correct ...

Joe,

The "CONV1", "CONV2", etc. are conveyor numbers. They identify the molding line the block was poured on.

The casting date, the "casting clock", the pattern number (GM1, GM3, etc.) and the conveyor number provided traceability for in-process trouble-shooting in the event casting problems were noted in the finished casting or later at the engine plant during machining.

(Thanks JohnZ!!)

:thumbsup:

Thanks all, I will recheck the IL or LI. I had a flashlight trying to look and write down numbers.:D So it is probably out of a passenger car?
Also the heads have PH stamped on them...any idea?
