Don't rebuild it if you are going to sell it to a vette guy.
If you want to keep it and rebuild it for yourself, make sure the machine shop doesn't machine away the ID pad.
It's a 2 bolt main 327 block, nothing really special except for the ID stamp. I think $1000 is a stretch, IF you could find a buyer. Now, if the actual vette owner showed up, it would be worth a bit more, but you wouldn't want to rake that guy over the coals to reunite the engine, so maybe $2000 for that deal.
Personally, I'd yank the 327, put in a 4 bolt 350 (at the very least) and try and sell the 327 as is.
