When trying to remove the leaf spring brackets on my 68 all 6 bolts have rusted to the cage nuts and the nuts now turn inside their cages. The bolts turn easily but don't loosen. My thought is to grind off the bolt heads to remove the bracket but how can I then re-bolt the bracket on??? I'm thinking that I may have to cut into the under-seat panel to remove the nuts and bolts and then weld a plate to that spot with a nut welded in place to reattach the brackets. Make sense? Or should I through bolt them to the inside of the car, under the seat? Suggestions? Thanks

Use a 4.5" angle grinder and get your head under there SAFELY along withn GOOD eye and nose protection and grind the heads off!

Been there, done that!!

Once you get the springs off (grind/cut the heads off like the other guys said) you can replace the J-nuts that hold them on. Don't cut in from the interior.
