I remember a guy in high school (8 yrs ago) putting a 400 into an '89 camaro. I believe he was trying to "shoehorn" a 427 into it, but not enough clearance on any side....I would think that any small block would work.
Chevrolet put a 572ci BB between the fenders in a 1 off '94 ZL-1. (Did I just type a dirty word?) I was looking at a Super Chevy (Mar 96) and they had a blip on it! Chevy Eng. John Moss gave birth to this one and stated it was built "To probe the limits of the F-body's platform".....
We have a convertable 3rd gen running around here with a 502 in it. I wanted to do the same thing, but the I saw this car and lost interest in it. I have the bug again though, since he did not have a six speed!
HOT ROD had an '87 Trans Am as a feature car awhile back. Looked dead stock, even had those ugly, puny, stock wheels on it. Runs low 11's. They guy stuffed a 455 Buick in it, apparently it wasn't to hard. I think he had to clearance the headers and run a special oil filter to get it to fit. Quite a sleeper.
