Stick a yoke flush in the back of the tranny,pull it out about 3/4 inch, measure from the center of where the u-joint cup would be on both ends, (yoke and rearend) That should tell you how long it needs to be.

If you are having a drive shaft shortened or made new ask the tech doing the work how he wants you to measure the distance from trans to rearend. Also it's important to have the car sitting on it's suspension.
