I read somewhere in another post that some guys have eliminated wheel hop by adding a piece of steel (similar to a leaf) on the front side of the leaf spring. This allowed them to run with no traction bars.

Can anyone tell me how this is done? Where is the piece of steel placed and how is it secured so it doesn't cause noise?

Dave, thanks for replying. My car is a '68 with about 550hp, 4-speed, street use only, no slicks. I am getting too much noise from the CE J-bars, plus they are heavy and I'd like to get rid of the unsprung weight to make the car ride better.

To answer your question, I am running multi-leaf springs. They were 4-leaf, but I removed the lower (shortest) leaf, so now they are 3-leaf....

It is an old MOPAR SS trick to install a heavy half leaf right under the front half of a multi-leaf spring main leaf to stiffen it up and then use clamps to clamp each front leaf's end tight. Leave the rear half leaf's alone b/c they are just along for the ride..

How long is the extra leaf?

When you say "heavy half leaf" are you just using an extra leaf from a standard spring pack, or are you using something else?

Also, do you worry about the gap that is created in the rear of the pack, caused by the back half of the "heavy leaf" not being there?

thanks
