I am installing an Autometer Gas Gauge in my console and cannot figure out which TAN wire to use from the connector under the dash. This is the stock connector that would be used if you were running a stock speedo/tach/clock/warning lights/gas gauge console.
I have looked in everybook I have but none breakdown which of the two tan wires is for the stock FUEL Gauge.
Does anybody know which wire should be used?
I think the first TAN wire is number 1 on the connector and the other TAN wire is number 11.
Thanks
Doug

One TAN wire is for the tank sender, should read in ohms to ground anything between 0-90 ohms, depending upon fuel level.

The other TAN wire goes to PARKING brake, should be an open when brake not applied, then ground when applied.

I just went through this myself... the tan wire you want is the one in the #1 position... at least it was on my '68.
