bowtie, the third generation camaro came out with the 350 in 1987. it was equiped with TPI and always had a auto trans and also never came in a convertable. I also have all the horsepower ratings in a book of mine if you need it.

My friend is looking at getting one maybe. Found one for sale. I didn't think they came with the 350's untill 89 but I was wrong wasn't I??

Tom that would be great if you could post the HP ratings.
If you are wondering about my name it's because I own a 66 Chevelle as my sign says.
My next question would be where is rust more prone to start?? The price he told me seems odd, 1 grand canadian, mint. Seems low for an i-rock IMO.

Thanks alot again

Well I'll be damn'd, no IROC converts? There is one running around town. It has all the IROC badges and even has the correct wheels. Man, someone went through a lot of trouble. Gotta love creative people.

And here I thought it was real.

I think also that the 350's were the L98. My buddy's girlfriend has one. Not exactly a rocketship, but a very sweet ride nonetheless

bowtie, they did have iroc convertibles but they only came with a 305 not a 350. I am at school right now but i will post the HP ratings when i get home tonight. Also i would say that rust is pron to start on the bottom of the doors and the wheel wells. My 87 that i just sold had rust in the back wheel wells, surface rust on the doors and a rust whole in the front fender. i jope that helps

From memory the IROC 350s started out at 220 HP. Later up to 230 and the last L98 with dual cat. converters were at 245. The 305 maxed out at 230 HP with the aluminum head version in 92. Could get the 230 HP 305 with a five speed, but none of the 350s.

hey bowtie here is the Hp ratings and years for the 350 engines.

1987-225hp
1988-230hp
1989-230hp (240hp with dual cats)
1990-245hp
1991-245hp
1992-245hp

all of these engines only came in Iroc's. with an auto trans and some type of fuel injection. (i beleive all came with TPI)

P.S. if you need the HP ratings of the 305's let me know

Lets not forget about the Firebirds now, they also received the same engine in those years.

Also in '91 and '92 it was in the Z not the Iroc, '90 was the last year for the Iroc.

In '86 they DID make 350's, only 50 of them though
. So they are very rare.

I'll say it one more time in case you thirdgenners didnt know... www.3rdgen.org

The very first year of the 350 TPI was in 1988. That was the year that GM dropped the name Z28. Iroc, RS, Camaro was the only name used from 1988-1990. The engines was the 305TPI, 350TPI,305TBI, 2.8MPI(85-89) and the 3.1MPI (90-92) but trust me when I say that the 350TPI started in 1988. If you want to call a Chevy dealer(parts Dept.) and ask them.

The 350 debuted in the 3rd gen in 1987 - as the L98, it's TPI.

The 350 required the automatic transmission because the T-5 transmission wasn't up to the task of handling the torque from the 350, it's barely able to last behind a 305.

The 350 TPI engine also meant you got the aussie 9 bolt rear end, which was extremely expensive to fix when you broke it. Which typically didn't take too long to break that either.

You'd be amazed at the number of 3rd gen cars floating around with "350's" and 5 speeds.
(tip: 99.9% of them are actually 305's)

The first 350 TPI was in 87. The first 350 TPI with a serpentine belt came out in 88.
