I am trying to replace the ignition switch in my '67 camaro. All i need to replace is the switch, not the housing itself, but I cannot find how to get the switch out of the switch housing. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Samuel

I think you mean you want to replace the lock cylinder (that accepts the key and rotates), not the switch die-cast housing the harness plugs onto. Turn the key to the "accessory" position, and use a bent-open medium paper clip in the little hole next to the key; push it against light spring pressure and turn the key counter-clockwise, and the key cylinder will pop right out. If you then want to replace the switch assembly, just unscrew the chrome bezel that holds it to the cluster (you have to remove the lock cylinder in order to unscrew the bezel).

Note: You still have to have the key in the lock cylinder in order to rotate it to the Accessory position. Then the paper clip will release the lock cylinder from the housing.
