I can't figure out how to get the ignition tumblers out of the steering colum on my '69 camaro. I have literally taken the steering column apart and have the housing with the tumblers and key in my hands and out of the car and still can't get the tumblers out. There has to be an easier way than this.

also does anyone have any idea as to where I could get parts to rebuuild the insides of the steering column, as long as I'm this far might as well go all the way.

Thanx for any help. This is a great forum.

After posting this I did a search and found the following info which was very helpful. The only addition I would make to this is that I used a hack saw blade to depress the pin that allows the cylinder to be pulled out.

You have to take the steering wheel off, then the plate that cavers the plastic pieces that make up the turn signal cam. You need to take these out then you will see the aluminum casting of the steering column. When they cast this there is a small rectagular hole that may not be punched all the way through. Take a mini screwdriver and punch it out. This will give you access to the pin that you need to push in th allow the cylinder to be pushed out. To help find this hole, take your new cylinder and guesstimate where the hole for the pin would be by lining up your new cylinder with the old.

Special thanx to JANESY would posted this on 8/16/99
