Fifty years ago this week, (01B on the cowl tag) my 1969 Camaro was built at the Van Nuys plant. I bought the car in the Fall of 1984 when I was 21 yrs old. Within a year I picked up some YJ 14x7 rallys sports at a swap meet, along with an SS hood and 3:31 posi from a parted out ’69 SS. Prior to me purchasing the car, the original LM1 was stolen and replaced with a 327 out of a 1969 sedan. That’s how the car rolled for the next 30+ years.

In the Spring of 2015 we decided to restore the car. I wanted to keep it stock looking, while improving drivability /reliability. We ended up taking the body off the frame and really dove in. New bushings, shocks, wheel cylinders, brake lines, rebuilt MS, new gas tank, rims powder coated, new vinyl top, new front & rear glass, rebuilt the M20 wide ratio transmission, rebuilt the double hump heads, new clutch, new Performer EPS intake, new AVS carb, new MSD ready to run dizzy, custom dual exhaust with crossover pipe, added a GM cowl hood, Bluetooth radio, alum radiator and then body work with new paint. Interior is original except for new carpet. I did all the work myself except for heads, body, paint, & vinyl top work.

I cannot thank the fellow members here enough who answered my questions during the year plus restoration process.

Car has won a couple best of class awards and has Blue Ribbon status at the Wisconsin Iola car show.
Thanks,
David

Great looking 69 Dave! Thanks for helping to keep this thread going by entering your Camaro. I really enjoy seeing and reading about everyone's cars. It seems like the 327 and stock looking cars are slowly becoming a thing of the past so it's nice to see there still around. BTW great year and color too :wink2:. Best of luck to all participants!

I too really enjoy reading the story behind the cars and their owner/builder. Makes the car that more special to appreciate. Incredible that the interior is 50 years old and still in that good of shape. Nice Car!

536 page views yet only 1 entry?

We will roll it over into February and hope we can get some more interest in ROTM

We really need at least 5 to make it a contest.

The one January entry we have will automatically roll over.

I have nothing negative to say. I think July was the month I won. Could have been August. Either way I received a package from NPD pretty quickly. John was right on top of it thanks and keep it going. I enjoy the stories as well.

Hey guys. I forward the contact info to the sponsors and they send out the prizes.

You pm me and I send it to them if I don’t here back that you’ve received or not I have no way of confirming.

I will start a thread titled ROTM prize. It will run for 30 days. It will ask if you have not received your award and if not month and year won and 1st or 2nd place. I can the consolidate the list and forward to the sponsors.

When you receive your prizes post up received so I can scratch it off the list.

Thanks
