I'm looking at fabbing a dash insert similar to what DSE sells and then running some sort of LCD display. Something like the Racepak IQ3 display, Holley digit display dash, or a tablet of some sort.
I know it's not everybody's thing, but I like EFI stuff, and the idea of being able to monitor all my sensors without a ton of gauges in the car.

Do we have anyone here running one? I'd like to see some pics of a first gen running one, especially a 69>...

I'm going to get my car going first with the factory dash, I'll eventually do it in the future. I was working on the dash section of my AAW last night and got to thinking about how to wire it up in the future for a LCD dash. So I halted my wiring and started researching all the options...lol Actually should be a pretty easy swap once I get my dash insert made. I like seeing everybody's ideas...

You have an LS engine in your car with an OBDII port. You can access the car's computer data through the port. It is possible to make a custom display for a few dollars instead of hundreds of dollars. I made one for my truck. Sorry, I sold the truck a few months ago and bought a new one so I don't have any photos. My display was an aftermarket head unit that had a RCA video composite input.

You buy a dongle that plugs into the OBDII port and transmit the data either Bluetooth or WiFi. There is a small computer called Raspberry Pi that can communicate with the OBDII port via Bluetooth or WiFi. The computer can drive a display that can be almost any shape or size. Some people use an old Android cellular telephone as a display. Others, like myself use an aftermarket head unit that has a color display. There is free software out there that programs the Raspberry to communicate with the OBDII port and drives the display. The displays can be numeric or analog gauges.

Shad, I forgot to mention, I plan to put a Raspberry Pi display in my stock dash.

Just to the right of my speedometer, there is a plastic rectangle that houses a clock on some Firebirds. My plastic clock delete plate with the Pontiac triangle will pop off and that is where I am going to install the display. Maybe your stock dash has something similar.

With the Rasberry Pi, the options are limited to your imagination and ability... I got coworkers making all kind of junk with them. Makes me wish I didn't sell my factory ECU & harness, well sort of...lol

AEM's CD-7 is pretty good. You can run it off the OBD-2 port.

Other tablet options are using an interface with some dash apps. I use Real Dash and an iPad mini with my LS3 and it even detects what gear I'm in. I have a TKO 5 speed and I've never seen an app do that. The app is cheap and you do need to run a good OBDII interface with it but I've used it with a $20 one and it works ok. Plus the skins they have are really cool. Autometer also makes a package for $150 called Dashlink although you can buy Dash Command for a lot cheaper and it's the exact same thing.
