Hey how you doing pdq67

I talked to you some time ago about doing a 6 cylinder to a sbc conversion and you helped me out.

here i am now doing a rear end swap
what i have in my car is a 327/powerglide/273 non posi, mono leaf

what i am putting in is
327/700r4/355 posi rear multi leaf

I took the 700r4 and 10 bolt rear end with multi's out of my buddies 69 convertible along with the tranny member and driveshaft

here is my question when i compare the leafs, the mons are 1 inch longer than the mutis and i am wondering if the shackles are the same and will the convert multis make the car sit higher to lower.

thanks i am hoping you can help me out with the shackle thing as i am confused, and for the shocks i am just gonna use my 67 shock setup not 69 staggered.

You say the monos are an inch longer. Are you measuring straight across eye to eye, or along the arch of the spring?

The shackles should be the same.

Did your friends car sit up higher than yours? The multi leafs may sit the back end up a little higher if your mono leafs were sagging.

pdq67 isn't answering you because he's gone from this site.

Just a guess, but I would say the monos are a little longer because they're sagged. The less arch, the further distance from eye-to-eye.

And to answer your other question, yes, pdq has been banned.

Exactly. Try measuring along the arch of the spring. They should be the same. Your car should sit an inch or two higher with the multi leafs in that case.

If this is going into a 67 and using the rearend from a 69. I think you have to use shock extensions to fit in the shock tower locations correctly. Correct me if I am wrong. You will have to shorten the drive shaft. Search for the correct way to measure for that. Youur car will sit higher with the multi's but I'm sure over the years the mono's were probably sagging alot.

well changed the lower shock mount on the drivers side to give me both front shocks rather than staggered
