For the past couple years I have seen the need for a database to bring finders and seekers of missing cars and parts together. I have seen numerous posts where someone is trying to locate a car or part but there is no structured way to do this. My last post on this issue was over a year ago so I am starting this new thread. Here is the original post:

About a year ago I started creating this database but had little time to work on it. I finally got focused and finished it a few days ago. Here it is:

This database relies upon data posted by users and will probably take a good while to become effective. I have added a few test entries of my own to get it going. I'm sure there may be some bugs or changes needed that will become evident as time goes on but for now it is usable.

Please enjoy and pass the word.

Thanks Mike! Well, got two posts so far. Anyone have suggestions on what I could do to get the word out better? I've registered with several search engines and posted the link on a couple other sites but don't know what else to do. It will probably just take time through word of mouth to become known.

Larry - excellent idea!! Good luck with the site - I'll make a post about our original motor.

You should check into putting some Google. adsense ads on that site and help earn some revenue ;)

Have you added your site to the TC "resource links" area yet?
http://www.camaros.net/links/ to add the site go here... http://www.camaros.net/cgi-bin/links/add2.cgi

I'd like to add a word of caution to anyone posting a wish list of a part or parts wanted. Post carefully so you don't set yourself up for a scam. If you post wanting that lost trans for your car and you include the right info it could set you up as a scam target. Imagine you posted your vin and other info about your cars history and get a call from a guy that has your trans. Is it real or did he get enough info from you that if he feels he has you hooked he can restamp your numbers on what he has?

I really think Larry's site has great potential as a help and service to the hobbiest, just use it wisely. You know the scammers will if you don't.
