Just want to say hello to everyone. Not new to camaros just new to this forum.

Just wanted to see if anyone has fit these tires under the rear of a 67. It is there 275/50r17 . Tread width is 9.6 , section width is 10.5, diameter is 28". I will be using a 17x9.5 rim with a 5.5 b/s. I want to run a drag radial but it is real limited in sizes . I want to run at least a 27" tire no more that 28". I had a 255/60r15 on it and worked great. But there is no tire that matches them in a 17". I am sitting at stock height on front and rear. Just wanted to see if anyone has run this combo.

I have run these, they are a bit big in diameter but work well. I'm on coil overs and needed to lift up the back end a bit from the 255/50/17 I normally run as a street tire.

Thanks for the reply 68, I dont mind the height. I would prefer a 27" tire but cant seem to find a drag radial in a 17" that will fit. Everything seems to be a 26" tall tire. The 255/50r17 would be a good fit. I believe it is a 27" tire and the section width is a little narrower than the 275/50. I belive the 255 would be a better fit but no one that I can find makes a drag radial of this size in the 17".

Did you run the 275/50's on the street. Did you have any rubbing on the inner well or the outside lip. Also how did you like the overall look. If you have a couple pictures I would like to see what you had. Also was your rims a 17 x 9.5 with a 5.5" backset.

I don't know if I have any pics, I ran it only a dozen miles on the street so I'm not sure on street driving. I still have them but they are a couple years old if you are interested in used. I only used them for two or three drag strip days.

I ran them on 17x9 with I think 5" backspace.

My ran that exact tire 17x9.5 on his 73 Challenger. The M&H runs narrow for its avertised size. Its closer to a 245-255 than the rated 275. It will fit just fine with 5.5" bs and stock height.

Thanks for the info 6d9. I am planning on running this set up and try it . I am in the process of doing a test fit with a sample tire now as soon as my wheels come in.

With my measurments with this set up it puts me about 1/2" to the inner well from the tire bulge . Thats getting pretty close.

What is the rule of thumb for clearence . Would it better with a 5-1/4" backset. This may create another issue on the outer lip.

You should be able to run a 275 wide tire on a 17 X 9.5 rim with 5.5 backspace.

My question is why don't you get some 15" rallys to mount your drag tires on ?

I'm planning on using 15 X 8 with 4.5 backspace with 275/60/15 Hoosiers. This is what a friend of mine is successfully using.

And the taller sidewall of a 60 series tire helps the suspension accept the shock of takeoff better that a 40 series tire.

Lawrance, Thanks for the info on the fitment. I had run a 15" with good success. I have had a 15" tire(255/60r15) and wheel on there for 25 years so I am looking for a diffrent look for a change 17" x 9.5". All I drive the car is to local cruises and drag strip. If I go to one that is far away I just trailer. So it is not a problem just to leave the drag radials on and not have to swap back and forth. I dont have any street tires. I am planing on running a 275/50r17. Not the 40 series. The 50 would give me about a 5.5" side wall. That tire is a 28" tall tire.

From what everyone has said it sound like they will fit. I just dont want to have to baby sit the car because of rubbing.

You should be fine. Stick with the 5.5" bs. The tires hook good too!

I'm running the exact tire you are talking about and have been running the tire set up for 3 yrs now, street and strip (obviously I have replaced the a time or two), but I like the look they give and fill the wheel well really nice. No rubbing, and hook good as well.

Thanks obengston. Your car looks great. I do like the look you have also. Are you at stock height on front and rear. Also what front tire size and backset are you running.

Thanks for everyones input.

Thanks. The front is rims are 17x9 and tires are 205/50 (thinking about going back to the 225 or 245) , rear is 17x 9...almost 10 275/50 M&H, the offset is the standard offset whatever that is... I will have to check them to be sure. The front I'm running SP&C upper/Lower double adj QA1's (from the instruction manual when I installed it says would be lowered by 2 to 2.5, but I don't think it was that low. When I was installing them I installed them with the factory hgt setting according to the instructions (was to high for me, so I called the company and he said not to go with the lowest setting because It might be to low, but I did anyway and it was where I liked it. The rear I have a Moser rear with a multi perch, but did not want to change to a Mono perch in case I wanted to go with a multi leaf set up later, so I made a aluminum block that sits above the mono and wraps down beside it, so I believe it lowered the rear about 1". I was going to order the caltrac mono slit leaf but have not at this time (I do have the cal tracs).
