Hi everyone,

Thought it might be interesting for all the military vets on our site to mention when and where they served, what branch and unit they were in, and where they live now. Anyone interested, please feel free to add your info, and thanks for your service.

Sincerely,
RJ Bailey

22yrs,9 mos US Army Reserve, enlisted March 1976, retired Dec 1998.
unit enlisted-into and served-out of, 728th Engr Det, Bardstown, KY.
unit was chartered in 1963, and recently disbanded. I was the only member ever to enlist as a PV1 and retire from the same unit. (E6).
63N MOS, (Heavy Equipment Operator)
additional duties included Section Sergeant, Motor Sergeant, Reenlistment NCO.
our unit (thru the years) had the distinction of making 6 training tours overseas:
Germany 4 times; Egypt 2.
prior to the recent occurrences in the world, Reservists were known as "weekend warriors". today, without the dedication of the "citizen soldier", our forces would be severely hindered.
here's to all Military : (hand-salute) !

USMC 4th Battalion 11th Marines 3rd 175mm gun battery at 29 Palms Ca. 1980-1984. Meritoriously promoted 3 times to Sergeant. They wouldn't let me transfer for fear they would get a S**t bird in exchange. Luckily I missed the middle East action some of our boys saw. Semper Fi!

US Army May 1974 to May 1978. 11C (mortar platoon - basically a jumped up grunt). Spent most of the time as a forward observer.

Basic at Ft Ord, California, May 74 to July 74.
AIT at Ft Polk, Louisiana, July 74 to Sept 74.
1/9 Infantry, Camp Hovey, Korea, Oct 74 to Nov 75.
6/32 Armor, Ft Carson, Colorado, Dec 75 to May 78.

ETS'd as an E4 which I made out of AIT.

Funny how you forget stuff thru life but you never forget what you did in the military....
