Heys guys, I have the vacuum pump. No go on bleeding the brakes.

Motive unit shows up. Fitted it six ways from Sunday and it just leaks like a sieve from the master.

Its just the flat unit the goes over the top but still? The thing is completely unusable.

I must be doing something wrong here...

Same experience I had and others reported as well. I think the best way to use one is to put a piece of flat stock metal across the top and with holes drilled for the j hooks to go through, when you tighten up on that plastic top it distorts and leaves the middle up in the air away from the surface of the master cylinder.

It worked perfect on my original m/c on a 68,didn't need to use a c-clamp,just the supplied hooks and chains.

My vac pump is only used for calibrating VA units.
Havent bothered with vac or pressure bleding for yrs now...just a bloody hassle.
If it cant be bleed the way its meant to be there is something wrong
I mean , can one get and hydroliic sytem as simple as a brake sysyem other than a hydrolic jack under the car?
It not rocket scientist stuff....and can always get a neigbour, one of the kids or mail man to help for a few minutes.

I had no problem using gravity and the vac pump. I opened the bleeders and within 5 minutes fluid was running out. I then used the vac to suck out about 1/2 pint of fluid on each wheel and they were good. You need to remember with a vac pump you go backwards. You bleed the wheel closet to the MC and go to the farthest. With the vac pump you will always have small line of bubbles leaking by the bleeder threads.
Steps you are correct the old way is the best but if you don't have a good neighbor or your 40 year old kid doesn't have the time and the mail man won't get out of his vehicle, you need to resort to something else.

Or put another way, if you cant find anyone, one must be a very lonely selfish person with no friends.
Im getting older, cant trim up the trees around the place, the kids (married families cant help) TILL I meantion ..whos going to get the Camaro and vintage cars....and what realy clinched it....they love the old family home, so it was " old people sell their home when the gardens get too big to maintain..." gees what they all turned up trees trimed, all needs now is to tow the trailers to the recycle plant, and they have offered to do that too!!!!

Bottom line, if a person cant get someone for 10 mins to push a bloody brake pedel for 10 mins, they must deserve it....
pay a local neighbours school kid 10 bucks, and get them interested in old cars.

Interesting - I wouldn't have guessed that - what's the rational behind going backwards with a vac pump?
I don't understand it either but I seen that in two difference brand of vac pumps instructions.

I am sorry, if you sell a product that needs to be modified just to work, you have no business selling it.

I am returning, frankly just on principal.
Suit yourself. You're returning an excellent tool that doesn't "suck" :)

Funny! I get it.

After all this money and hassle, popped in a new master (bad chinese master suggested by someone on another post), slap it on, crack bleeders...Boom pressure at the pedal.

Should have been using my brain and not more toys...like the man said..

It comes back to if cant bleed the ordinary way pedal down release lock off pedal up, there is an issue and nothing, vac bleed/ pressure bleed is going to fix it.
