I apologize up front if this is the wrong place to post this!

Im having a bit of a running issue with my car. Its a brand new install so the issue is also new, not like it used to be ok, but now its not.

Anyway, I have an MSD 85551 distributor, and 6530 6AL-2 programmable ignition box. Car starts and runs, and seems to idle fine. Get it up to 1900rpm or so and its buzzy and crappy. Not quite a misfire though. When driving, under very light load, like taking off very gently, it then feels like a bit of a misfire. Timing with the light at idle is 12 degrees or so.

When I pull the cap off I see the burn mark is way at the edge of the post, like my timing is way advanced. http://maxboostracing.com/msd.jpg

Im running pretty much default program in the 6al2 now, so its set up for 8cyl, and 6500 rpm redline. Everything else is untouched.
I double checked wiring and grounds.

Do I need to run the distributor locked out?

Really driving me crazy, so I appreciate any tips. Oh, I did post my question on the MSD help forums but I got no responses.

If you used the green and violet wires for the pickup hook up to the box, try swapping them to see what it does. MSD has had issues in the past with building their harnesses backwards so they don't match up right and reverse the polarity which causes it to fire way out. It'll start and run but then timing starts jumping all over the place at higher speeds. Also know a guy who had a new MSD distributor that had the pick up installed backwards and it caused him all kinds of headaches when he was trying to get the timing control on his EFI working.
