I need a little help from the experts out there...

68 Camaro SMB 350.

I am replacing the points distributor with an MSD system. I have put one of these in a previous 69 and worked well.

Here's what I need help on... The instructions for the 6A box indicate the wiring needs to be connected to the key switch. Why? And if I do, can I connect it to the starter?

Any help much appreciated...

There should be a wire (which I'm guessing is the one you are referring to that says goes to the key switch) and this one turns on and off the system. I would look to see what it requires for voltage. Most older points systems had a full 12 volts going to them when the car was cranking and was reduced through a resistance wire or clay resistor to a lower voltage when the key was put into the run position. If you used the factory coil positive wire it may turn the new ignition system on while cranking but when the key is turned to run it may shut off as it is not getting enough voltage.
