I have a 69 convertible. I have replaced the front end suspension and all shocks and new tires. At 39 to 42 mph the front end feels and looks like it is going to shake off. It's like there is some one on both sides of the front fenders rocking the car up and down like a see-saw. I have purchased a complete grommet set, but have no clue how to do a job like that. Oh, all 4 cocktail shakers are on the car. Any help is grateful. thank you, mark

I have a 68 convertible and I had the exact same problem. I rebuilt the front end (ball joints, tie rod ends, control arm bushings, etc...) and it went away. I first tried shocks and wheel balancing which had no effect. I can't say which piece fixed it, but it is gone now. The job is not all that difficult if you take your time, and it gives you the opportunity to clean up all the suspension pieces and the front subframe. Not as good as taking off the whole front cap, but it looks pretty good.

Thank you all. I will try the high dollar tire balancing computer maching and have a look at the tie rods.

I had that problem and it turned out the frame body mount holes were rotted out so the body was loose! $7 bought some 1/4" plate for patches I made. However, a front end rebuild if the parts are old(er) is a safety issue that should be done.

MarkZ11,

Go to http://www.gsp9700.com

Go to locate a GSP and plug in the appropriate information. Have your wheel/tire assemblies "road tested" on the machine. If your wheels/tires aren't the problem, at least you have eliminated that as a possible cause. Watch them do the test. Really cool diagnostic tool for any shop. Let us know how it turned out.

If you or anybody has a question about the GSP, feel free to E-mail me. [email protected]

Just a thought. I bought a set of tires once and after the car came off the lift the entire thing felt like it was going to shake apart. It turned out they somehow bent the driveshaft when they put it on the lift

Just a thought. I bought a set tires once and after the car came off the lift it shook so bad you could not drive it over about 30 mph. Turned out they somehow bent the drive shaft putting it up on the lift.
