We rough fitted the upper, lower cowl and dash. Everything aligns well.

We need to clean up the metal of the adjoining sheet metal and clean up the floor welds while the cowl is out.

Just a tip: I had some rust along the edge of the steering shaft reinforcement ( on the firewall) so I drilled out the spotwelds and found the backside of the reinforcement severly corroded. BTW do you have a pic from the underside showing how the floor pan, toeboard and the torque box are joined (Im basically doing the same operation as you are)?

I will look at the plate you are referring to once we strip the firewall. We will take some pics of those locations and post for you.

The upper and lower cowl, and outer cowl panels are all in alignment. We have them in place with kleikos. We will need to use a few sheet metal screws in a few spots to bring the lower and upper cowl snug to the metal at the the base of the window edge.

We did all the final fitment for the lower and upper cowl and tulip panels. Then we pulled it all off and welded in the driver tulip panel (inner).

Everything is square and level!

We welded in the passenger inner tulip. All that work aligning the panels is paying off.

I agree. This is far more than I ever did at her age and you could not have gotten me to sell my 67. The one in the pics under the tarp I have owned since I was 18.

Lower cowl is now welded in. My daughter Katie said she really enjoys welding. She is a co-op and is taking 3 classes in college. This was her way to relax!

Well, I thought I lost one of the partial vins. I was unaware that for A/C cars, one partial vin was at bottom of heater core opening. Lucky I kept that part!

We have the one on the cowl though. I learn something new about these cars every day.

We also just ordered the quarters, inner wells and roof.

Katie welded in the outer cowl panels tonight. We will seal it all up tomorrow before installing the upper cowl.
