Katie welded in the upper cowl today. We have a few spots on the firewall that we skipped. We need to use sheet metal screws to snug the upper cowl to the firewall. We will finish that tomorrow. Pretty nice plug welds!

The floor is almost ready to be replaced!

I pulled the rest of the floor out this evening. Katie wanted to keep the seat reinforcements. So, that made it way more fun.....not. I now know the wrong and right way to remove those suckers.

Here are the results.

A little more progress on the floor. Katie drilled out the plug weld holes in the floor and de-burred them.

I finished removing the remnants of the old floor from the rockers.

Tomorrow we will clean the inner rockers, seal them and fit the floor.

Here are a few more picks after we secured the front of the floor. We now officially have more metal on the car then when we purchased it. I have to say I am quite happy with how the floor fit.

That's nice, but you're just the junior assistant here, and the important part is what the BOSS thinks and if SHE is happy with the fit! Lol...

Great progress, thanks so much for sharing it, very impressive work going on here!

You are quite right about that. We had to put the floor through the front window to get it in. Katie was there for all of that. We were kinda surprised it aligned with very little effort. Got lucky!

Did usage of the cargo straps help pull the rockers together for better fit?

Today we did final alignment of the floor to the bottom of the rocker panels. We used clamps to squeeze the floor and rocker together and inserted kleikos along length of the rockers.

And we did save the front seat floor plates.

Daughters boyfried was in town. So, we took a week off. Katie is currently cutting the edges of the trunk pan and frame rails from the tail panel. Here is a pic of her progress.

We have been working on the car but, getting the floor, trunk pan and frame rails aligned has been delicate work.

We initially had gaps between the floor and trunk pan and frame rail to floor and tail panel.

In the end, the jig location were correct. We had to slide the floor back and use a lot of clamps to get everything aligned.

We initially laid the floor in too far forward. We kept the seat pans and verified that the spot weld holes now align correctly to the inner rockers.

we will fasten in everything this weekend so we can get to the next stage!
