My daughters 67 RS Project

Well, my 19 year old daughter has been looking for a 67 Camaro project for us to do together and she finally found one.

It has solid bones but is going to need floors, quarters and outer rockers.

I made her restore a family vehicle earlier this year to get experience. So, she replaced rockers, primed and painted an 04 Jeep.

So, she has been hunting eBay and craigslist for a car and she found one last week.

67 RS with 2L option. It also has A/C and is marina blue with bright blue deluxe interior.

It came with a M20, 327 4bbl and 12 bolt rear end.

Not the original drivetrain but perfect for this car.

My wife bought me my own rotisserie so I don’t have to borrow one for this project.

Anyone know where to buy the dust shields that go over the power headlamp electric motors? I can’t find the ones we took off the car.
is it this part?....the dust boot?

I agree with that process. We just forgot about them. We did fill the holes with a clear coat/base coat mixture. But, not nearly as good as drilling before paint.
That will help. Original screws were dipped in a wax-like coating to seal the threads. I had some but sold many.

I have the wax tipped screws as well.
Does anyone have a beat up RS upper grille? Katie is missing one of the clips that hold it to the header.

Have you considered making one? Don’t look very difficult and I know you guys are very resourceful.

Use someone's brake and let it rip. I make a lot of parts on my finger brake.

My buddy Rick had a dented upper grille and is sending me a few clips.

Here is a pic of the power headlamp assembly. I rebuilt the motor gear packs and Katie and I rebuilt the assemblies.

Did I miss it or did you have pictures of the motor gear build?

I only showed it disassembled. It’s a pretty straight forward process to remove, clean and reassemble. I have 5 or 6 motors and can show the order if you need to see it.
We were getting ready to install the leaf springs but there was only 1 in the box! So, we are going to switch to installing the subframe this weekend.

You'll thank yourself if you install the motor/tranny in the subframe and roll the assembly underneath the body. Those valve covers are temporary. Also very easy to do concentric/parallel bellhousing alignment if not using an automatic.

We just might do that.
Well, we started assembling the subframe. Had some parts to clean and paint first. So, we won’t be able to completely assemble it yet.

Katie disassembled the fold down seat. Bagged and tagged everything herself.

We set in all the control arm bushings.

The original hubs were in great shape but the rotor were out of spec. So, had to toss them.

Keith, When you install the bolts in the ends of the upper control arm cross shafts, use a couple drops of blue loctite on the threads. They can have a tendency to back out.

Well, one of the brand new rims were bent. I called Summit racing and they are sending a new one. I called the other vendor about the missing leaf spring and it’s on its way!

Finally, Katie dropped off the fold down seat back, hubs and coils to get sand blasted.

We plan on re-covering the rear seat tonight.
