I finally finished car after 3 years and now taking it out for test drives.
Everything is pretty much new including front end. I'm running kumo
ecsta's 235/45/17 on front and the car seems to track hard or feels
loose, kinda floats. I am running 28psi in tires, and had it aligned. Any
suggestions. Maybe some toe in? Any help would be great, Thank's

Greetings from Tucson Az
Hope you made Goodguys!
Have the alignment double checked... Friend has Nova and 1st place set front end up so bad that he couldn't hold it on the road.
More info on car would be helpfull. Lots of things can make car not drive right. Good luck Jay

Thank,s Jay for reply. Went to goodguys Sat it was pretty good. Last thing I need
for the car is a vintage air system then I'm pretty much finished. Anyway I put more
air in the tires 38psi and it tracked much better. I think I will have alignment checked
again. Car has all new front end parts with 2" drop hotchkis springs in front and 1"1/2
drop springs in rear. Need to find a good alignment guy again, the one who did my 67
retired last year. Need to find a better set of shocks, I have the kyb shocks all the way
around and they feel pretty harsh. Took the car on the freeway today and it drove pretty good at 70mph. Thank's, Bill

Around 32psi is what I run and it seems good. 38 will have you wearing out the center of the tire in short order. If you had the front end apart for subframe bushings or just general rework you may want to run a piece of pipe or something up through the alignment holes and make sure it's close. I just got mine back together as well and am thrilled compared to the last time I drove it....now it makes my heart beat faster for the right reasons.

I'm happy with the AC Delco Premium shocks I used and they were fairly cheap (had to use the extenders in the rear though). Mine tracks well and corners well but the power steering feels a little overboosted. Not much I can do about that other than going with an AGR box or something.

Tonight I replaced kyb schocks on the front and installed monroes sensortracs and
what a difference. The car drove way better, didn't wander and actually felt like
there were schocks up front. I,m just a crusier and want a car thats comfortable.
Those kyb shocks are very harsh, and you can feel every bump in the road. Will put
a pair on the back, and reduce psi in the tires a little, I agree 34lbs seems right. Thanks
for the info, Bill

You might add one or two 1/8 inch shims to the rear bolts on the upper control arm to give alittle more caster after you do all your changes.

Now that you mention that, there was more shims in the rear bolts when I took it apart.
Will give it a try after changes. I know there are some pictures of that from 3 years
ago. Thank's, Bill

Sounds like you need to call around and find a place that knows how to align these cars. The owner of the place that did mine autocrosses a '67 so yeah, it was pretty good the first time. :)

There is likely an old tire shop or something around you that is probably a better bet than most of the "you see 'em everywhere" type shops.

Greetings from Tucson, Az
How many miles have you driven your Camaro?
You might drive couple hundred miles before you have
it rechecked...just to settle it in better. I also have Monroe
Sensetracs on my 69 droptop...road cruiser for sure. went to Phoenix
2 weeks ago for grand daughters #2 birthday 300 miles that day
I'm sure if you ask around there is some ole car nut up there that can help you find a mechanic who will spend the time to align it right...
I run my tires at 32 psi all four. 205/60hr15 front on 6 inch rally's and 215/65hr 15's on rear 15 7's on rear. car sits low in front. with drop
spindles and big block front springs front and multi-leaf on rears
DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!
What part of Phoenix are you in? I'm up there ever couple months
We might come up for Beaurdry show on 1 jan,2010
Drive safe Jay

Jay, I have about 75 miles on the car. I bought it on ebay and got so burned. Pictures
and phone calls seemed great, but when car arrived found rust all thru it. I started at
the radiator core and pretty much replaced everything. New sheetmetal, wiring, zz383,
tremec 5 speed, 12 bolt, new interior. Did it all myself, 3 yrs and a lot of fun. The only
thing I didn,t like were the kyb shocks. Will put back ones on friday. I live in north phx
101 and tatum Desert Ridge area. Was just i tucson last week to get my son from UofA.
Used to live there when I was a kid. Maybe look me up if you drive up sometime. Will
post pictures when I can get this new computer to let me. Will drive for awhile then have
aligned again. Like Steiner said need to search for a good shop. Thank's Bill

I had a similar loose feeling and after ckecking everything found that both steering arms were working thier way loose. Retightened and loose feel went away!
