My 14 year old son talked me into a 1969 Camaro Pro-Touring type project. I thought about CBB brakes, a fast-ratio steering box, heavier front springs. We don't have alot to spend on a-arms, ls-6 motors, 6 speeds etc.. you know, the expensive stuff so if you guys have any ideas, throw them my way. It's nice to see him interested in the Camaro instead of a rice-burner with a fart pipe.

Go to the junkyard or aka "Recycle Yard and find you a 4.8-6.0 with decent mileage pending your budget.
295ci 4.8-$450-$500
325ci 5.3-$500-$750
364ci 6.0-$1000-$1500

*get the acessories, you might can get a deal with the purchase
*Get a tranny 4L65E or 4L80E tranny pullout.$500-$1000
*call PTC and order a 9.5" 3000 stall converter
*throw a set of 4.11's in the back with a posi
*motor mounts/headers
*call Comp and order a 226 LXL lobe.605 /232 XER lobe.595 cut it on a 112+2
*get a set a valve springs (Patriot Extremes)/pushrods (hardened)
*LS2, LS6, or Fast Intake off Ebay or craigslist $150-$250
*get a wiring harness from PSC or Painless $550

This should get you started or give you some ideas. There is more but it will depend on what direction you want to go. There are tons of options and it can be done within a reasonable budget.

You can build a solid 450-550HP combo easy for around $3000-$4000

Just buy upper arms (spc adjustable) and keep the stock lowers. Put some Delrin bushings in the lowers. If you don't want to spend any money on arms, then do the Guldstrand mod. Taller balljoints will help but don't do both Gmod and Taller BJ. One or the other.
Some Koni shocks.
Hotchkis springs and swaybar.
Definitely the steering box... what a difference that makes!
Subframe connectors.
Then comes the money with wheels and tires!
