Replaced the tachometer with an OER model during engine compartment restoration, including new engine and under dash wiring harnesses.
The tach needle bounces around, more so at low rpm, than higher rpm. I am told that I probably have a loose body / frame ground somewhere.
All stock distributor, points and condenser. No HEI.
Need to know all the places to look. If anyone has any ideas would appreciate hearing them.

I don't have an AIM in front of me, but on our 68RS, the negative battery cable is terminated at the water pump. There is a ground from the engine to the frame / motor mount bolt on driver's side. Then I have two ground straps from the firewall to the engine behind each valve cover, but I think I added one of them a few decades ago. Your negative battery cable also has a ground from the battery to the body on the passenger side fender.
You can never have too many grounds. I would remove each one at both ends and clean the mating parts, apply No-Ox and put them back on. I have used star lock washers too, but not really needed.

Good luck

Ron
