I was wondering if someone has come up with a FM power antenna or a fully collapsible one to fit the front fender on a 67. Maybe even a shorty. I've been searching but really didn't come up with anything. Maybe even a cool billet block off cover and go with a hidden antenna. I would think with a power unit it would need to be fairly compact to fit in the front fender. Besides a cleaner look, putting the cover on would be a breeze. Any ideas would be reradiated thanks.

I'm running a Hirschmann manual antenna intended for a early Porsche 911 that is fully collapsible. It's a bit shorter than the OE antenna when fully extended but fits well in the door jamb/fender area. Got it off Amazon for ~$20.00 maybe 10 years ago.

I went with http://www.tunetrapper.com and hid the antenna in the rear spoiler. Wish I could tell you how well it works but I'm not on the road yet!

Dakota Digital has a similar one that mounts with double side tape or Velcro insiude at the top of the windshield. had one for many years with no trouble and no holes in the fender.

If you want power I seem to remember being schooled that a 90's Lexus/Acura model that with minimal modifications fit and worked as well as can be expected in that small space, major drag to install but okay once there. Was very brittle when extended as an antenna goes and did not hold up well to abuse. I also think there was a recent thread talking about a recent truck power antenna being used. But I can only say the rear quarter panel is the position of choice for a power antenna.

I bought a collapsible one for my 67. I got it from advance auto. It was cheap and has no problem fitting under my fender. It does touch the bulge in the firewall/plenum and it does stand up straight when extended. It will not angle back at all. Also I had to use the mount from the old fixed mast antenna that I was using as the hole in my fender was bigger than the new one would cover. It works great. The main reason I wanted it was so I could throw on a car cover easily. I have a stubby on my mustang for the same reason. I think this is the one I used.

I have since modified this to fit. But I think I will give the one from Auto Zone a try. I would prefer one that collapsed.
