Our new classifieds are now up and running alongside our previous classifieds.

The FAQ is located here.

Why do we have a new Ad program?

Our old program worked ok, but was for a simpler, friendlier time.

With so many scammers and weasels the old system was vulnerable to being tricked. It did not verify the email address of the poster nor did it check to see if their name was already in use. It was possible to post multiple ads with different names and several did.

The previous program never allowed any feedback so bad buyers and sellers were not being tracked. You can now leave a rating and feedback on buyers and sellers who either treated you great or were impossible to deal with. YES, you can warn others and this system will get action for both sides and may help resolve any disputes.

We had some visitors who felt they should place comments instead of ads and never used their real name. Some posted fake ads only to hassle other people for a variety of reasons.

Overseas (and local) scammers routinely prowl automotive sites and grab hundreds of ads and email addresses. They then send form mails that say they will buy your "whatever" for sale and send more money than it's worth and you send the difference.
Despite running warning banners for hundreds of thousands of times, guys were still being taken in by this. The new program allows you to only deal with other registered buyers and sellers which effectively stops this. You also have the option to put in another email account so as to keep spammers from using your regular email address.

We certainly are not doing this just to annoy our regular users and are open to suggestions. I know from past experience that change certainly isn't welcome for some people (sometimes myself included) but it really is something that we have needed for a very long time.

Please give it a try before posting negative comments.

Great Work! Although it's going to take most of us a little time to get used to the new format, it is certainly for the best. It’s encouraging to see that a public forum is monitoring for scammers and thieves. This is what keeps the integrity of this site robust. Camaros.net is a true source of valuable information on the web........ AND IT'S STILL FREE GUYS.

I like the new look and the many many new features. Please continue to keep all of us enthusiasts that share a mutual interest informed and united.

Super Job Al!

Thanks for taking care of us. I bought my car from an ad on this site and continue to buy parts and consult the offered information. You are one of the main reasons I am having such a great time. Thanks again!

The new format works, but one suggestion is that you break out the First Gens like you did with the previous format or develop a sort function that will let you sort by year. As you well know there tends to be a lot more 1st gens for sale than the other generations and being able to sort or classify by year would be great. Other than that this is a great site!

The new program has a number of features hidden away that will take time to check out.

You can collapse the years that you are not interested in, or go directly to just the cars and parts for 1st Gens only by clicking on the category itself.

try this:

http://www.camaros.net/classifieds/index.php?cat=1

I think that's what you had in mind?

We were going to break it down into a third step by putting 67 parts, 68 parts, 69 parts but from past experience the guys just post the same thing under each year.

Al

edit. we can probably come up with a search that picks only the year of interest. Under advanced search you can put in 1967 and 1st Gen cars for sale and get the results that way.

This is the way the link would work for 1967

and for 1969

Just love it. As the guy who just went crazy posting parts for sale for the last couple of hours, it is fantastic. Love the ability to post 3 pictures of any item. Love the random feature function. Love the counters on everything. Love the ratings thing as well which will definitely help in our quest to weed out those Frank Cummings and Christopher Justin types! This is one kick-*** site Al!

:beers:
