" Steel Krank, Fill pro gaskets, Melon oil pump". I would not even give this a second thought. You have the recommendations of many here on this site. Stay away from this seller and buy your engine from a reputable builder that others have used with success.

True, wife is a first grade teacher. They come to her knowing practically nothing and are coherent by end of year. Second grade teachers are amazed.

There are 2 Skip Whites, both in Kingsport TN.

You want this one, builds killer, reliable engines w/best parts around.

Sorry, satire/sarcasm or truthful?

I ask because he is on ebay, too.

Yes, both are on eBay. One is Skip White Racing, you want Skip White Performance.

The only negative comments on SWP I’ve seen come from engine shops who simply can’t compete.

Oh, I want a melon oil pump. Do I get to choose between watermelon, cantaloupe or honey dew?

No local shops near you ?

I like getting to give some input on what I'd like as an end result.

If i would wanna go with a crate engine, i would go with blueprint.
Like their SBC 396/400. both about 500 Lbft/hp, Forged parts only, 5000 and a few bucks.

Big Block i would go custom like Vortecpro. His 467 BBC, both 570 Lbft/HP for 6400 bucks..

Some builders sub out part of their machine work. Four bolt mains ?
Forged pistons ? All ARP fasteners ?

Be sure one compares apples to apples as not all prices includes carb, distributor, coil, coil bracket, ignition wires. Crank pulley, Water pump, alternator, belts....stuff adds up.

Found a few, one being the internet company I posted.
Another is 16 weeks out, assuming to parts shortage in that time frame.
Others were in a similar time frame or not that impressed with them.

At this point, time frame may be equal, so making sure I am comparing like for like is where I am focusing now.

It will be a small block.

Other than a few 383 variants, their other motors in the HP range are 12+ weeks out unless I find a distributor with one in stock.

Yes they have some in stock, but NOT in the HP range I am looking for.

Best engines use seasoned blocks
when available and appropriate for application.

Exception is Dart blocks.

How many of these “discount”
engines have (for example) forged
pistons and ARP fasteners ?

All the places I am looking are forged pistons.
Not all list the fasteners, but those that did are ARP.

This includes the 383 ebay company I originally mentioned.

I would recommend Ohio Speed Shops: Ohio Speed Shops I purchased a ZZ6 and Tremec 5 speed package and Chuck was awesome to work with. They can also have your engine dyno'd before delivery. Check them out too..
Regards,
Dan
