Glad I sold my original one when the getting was good, and oh boy........ the getting was good :D

bob
Don't be so happy yet. :noway:
The repros will never be exact.

The teak Corvette wheels have an extreemly good reproduction available that sells for around $600.
The originals still get more valuable every single day. Like MORE than $3K now

Yeah...there was one on ebay for little-over $2.5K...

Crazy....but we'll see...

I talked to the folks who did this new wheel and they guarantee it looks like NOS.....

Either way, it's gotta be better that what the OER looks like now.....

Mike, yes, please keep us posted on the overall quality of this remanufactured Rosewood Steering wheel being offered by The Parts Place for $349 with center cap and $279 without center cap. We all want to know if it is the solution! Thanks, Charlie

Well...........I got the new repro rosewood from the Parts Place Inc. and all I can say is......WOW!:hurray:

The color & patina on the rim is spot-on.....they even went as far as copying the dovetail connections for each section of the wheel as it was put together....just like the NOS ones...the swirl pattern is totally remarkable!!!

The only negative is the metal spokes...

They'll need to be re-surfaced with a Scotch-brite pad to make them a little brighter / shinier..no biggie....

The spokes are also bent....not quite where the originals are bent, but that's something I didn't notice until I compared it to my buddy's original rosewood...

Other that that..I'm totally satisfied......a real nice wheel that is damn close to NOS.....

Pictures can be found on their website @: www.thepartsplaceinc.com

Folks...say goodbye to the OER Repro......it's a real POS next to this....

Beleive me...it's nice....

Well I saw the New Rosewood Wheel here at Spring Carlisle.
D&R Classic had a few at the meet they were selling.

I like it much better then the old repro that was available.
However,
I do not believe anyone is going to be fooled into thinking it is original.

Spokes were sharp, (like all the repros)
Color was pretty good, even had some grain to it,
Texture was better, but not really like the original ones.

In fact when I walked up, I asked if they had the "NEW" wheels from Parts place???

They said: "that is it Right there"--->
I did not think for one second it was original.

So after personal examination.
I think you will be very happy with this wheel,
It is MUCH better then the other repro, which I would not have installed period.
This one is pretty close to the look of the authentic one.
Just like any Reproduction part, it is a good affordable alternative to the original item... Pretty close, and you save $1000.

Don't go selling your original just yet, this is not fooling anyone. IMHO

These guys have them in stock

Pacecar..

You're right on the money with your eval......

I did fool someone last night at the local cruise with it.....he had an original in his 69 a few cars down from me .......the person was really impressed...... he said it was 1000 times better than the OER unit.

If I were to give it a few coats of clear, the "graininess" of the wheel can be toned-down a bit.....but I'm OK with how it looks.....

I have had NOS ones also.

This new repro tries to look like NOS.
It was not the color so much as the feel/texture/design which gave it away.
Very nice reproduction part- it is very close, but It is not going to fool you to thinking it is real.

I think with a LOT of wear- it will get better
