Are you absolutely positively sure it's a lifter? Would you bet the title on it? My collection needs to grow.
Any chance it's an exhaust leak? Cracked header/manifold?
Have you done a compression test or checked the valve lash/valve movement?

Agree with Fairfx on checking for an exhaust leak. I had the sane sound on mine. Relashed the valves and it was still there. Tightened the exhaust manifold and it was gone.

well if i had other problems like burning oil or my timing being erratic, i would go that direction....
Cam going flat has nothing to do with timing or oil burning.
