Posting this build thread as there is a lot in common with Camaro/LS builds

After building a lot of Camaros I decided to do something different

I have been thinking about it for a while and bought a 66 Chevelle

Gonna be an LS3 swap mild protour car

Got it back from paint last week. Installed Ridetech StreerGrip suspension this weekend. (IMO best bang for the buck). LS3/525 with a TKO600 is going in next weekend. A lot harder doing LS TKO swaps on Chevelle then Camaros.

Other then that. Standard build. Vintage Air, Wilwood Brakes, Dakota Digital VHX dash.

That is a great looking car John. It is amazing how you find these cars with the bodywork all done just waiting for you to bring it to perfection.

And the seller made the 2600 mile round trip from Texas to deliver it for FREE

He said if I didn’t like it when he got here I didn’t have to buy it.

Actually it was a killer deal. 👍

My son says the guy paid me to take his car. Lol

Congrats John, good luck with the build.
I really like that color combo. Looks a shade darker than Cortez silver and with a burgundy (leather?).
Whatever, I'm sure it's going to be awesome.

Yes it's a little darker then Cortez Silver.

I've de-badged and filled all the emblem holes. Car will not have any stripes

One challenge in doing an LS swap is how to mount the DBW pedal. The bracket that comes with it just doesn't work.

I've used this one before on Camaros and works again perfect on the Chevelle.

Next pic is of the Clutch master cylinder installed. This is a Wilwood from Silver Sport. The frame is just dirty from the color sanding and buff. Lol Still have to wipe it off.

Going to be a good looking ride.. 66 my favorite... Me done with my 68 and trying to decide what to build next.. Have my high school 57 two doorhard top that I did frame off 30 years ago and wore out. My sons 67 ss rs. All original 83,000 mile car. ( survivor really to nice to build) or what I'm leaning to doing a 60 falcon ranchero from my uncle's ranch. It has great patina so I'm thinking no paint on outside ( sleeper) Art Morrison frt and rear suspension and a ls engine to drive the ford people nuts........

You would think a Chevelle would have more room in the tunnel for the tranny.

This is what it takes to fit a TKO600
