I was given a set of Cragar SST 15x10 rims with Goodyear Polyglass L60 15's on them. The rims were kinda ugly and rusty but after a couple hours with some polish I bought at a car show..holly cow..looks like new and I feel like I'm back in the mid 70's. I am not that old (well maybe to some) but have that old school in me and I want to keep this look. The tires are dry rotted Plyglass and I want to get that same look in a new radial. Can someone tell me what an L60 would crossover to now a days size wise? The tire is 27" in diameter and the tred with is flat and 10". I was told that the radial would be more rounded and not squared off like the tire I have. I am looking to get as much tire under there without too many issues. The rims are 15x10 and have a 4 1/4 back space. To top it off I got a set for the front from my brother in law. He had a set of 15x6's sitting in boxes and waxed, since the early 80's. Got them for nothing too..
Cant complain about him much anymore :) Any info would be appreciated before I go out hunting for tires. Thanks

Heres a pic

Thanks for the link Lonnie. I'll take my tire dementions and go to see if I can find a tire size to match closely.

use 295/50/15`s on the 15x10`s and a 235 70 15 on the fronts. here are my ssts with 235 60 up front and 295/50`s in rear not to mention the radials ride 100 time better than the old biased!! LOVE that oldschool look!

Thanks for the pic! Has the stance my car has. Do you have a pic of the rear? Do the tires stick out too far? I have a 4 1/4 bs and the tire sits nice now but I dont want the new ones to stick out. If you have a pic I'd appreceate it. Whats your BS in the rear? Do they rub at all? Sorry for the questions but you have the answers I need :)

Killer car !

Thanks for offering to get me a pic..I appreciate it. I checked out your photobucket for a pic of what it looks like from the rear but couldnt find one...but found you other coooolll toys! Nice Vette and Chevelle. I'm going to check out the Firestone tires. The BFGoodrich T/A's are not being manafactured till 1st quarter 09...so they say. Some say they are discontinued...

Thanks again and looking foward to more pics of your car!

You need to pump them up and measure their height and section width so that you can convert them to a modern metric!

My old up on the shelf now L-60/14's measure 26.5" tall and 11.5" section width and they are 298-53/14!

Suckers are big and this is mounted on Fenton 14" x 9" slotted mags! Way old-school by me!

They looked "right up, down town" w/ my small E-60/14's on the front!!

Nice car ! I am torn cause I like the way the Polyglass tires look on the back of the car versus the rounder looking radial. I know the radial is better but is it gonna really suck riding on bias tires? Are the BFGoodrich tires more square than other radials? I just put on my cousins Goodyear GT II on my car. He has them on 15x8 Cragar S/S rims (newer style) I like it even though the 275/60 is taller than my inherited L 60's but like the way my tire is more flat/square. Cars not on the road yet so I cant tell how they ride. I had Procomps on all my cars in the 70's and had no problems. Guess I'm looking for a 27" diameter tire thats wide and square looking like the old school bias tires. I think the 295/50's are going to be too wide and stick out with my 4.25 BS

Man I sound like I'm like a womman shopping for shoes...anal... Maybe I should just get slicks? :)

I had a set of Firestone wide ovals for a year they look great but Suck Suck Suck to drive on. I had mine on my original steel rims I now have Radials that are the same size height and width to the old Bies ply.
I also run a 255/60/15 on 15x8 rallie with 4" back spase on the rear and 225/60/15 on 15x7 Rallies with 4" back space on the front and they work perfect
Here is the old scool look with steel rims and dog dish
