Can someone please tell me what the features of a 68 Camaro SS were? I just saw one sitting in someones backyard, and its for sale if i want it. The gas cap on has SS on it. The taillights were two pieces, the outside lenses were red and inner were white. There is no badges anywhere on the car. It had a two speed tranny, AC controls, and I think the speedometer went up to either 120 or 140. I know there is all kinds of fakes, but I would just like to know if this is sounds like an SS, or what options SS's had.

Look for the 12 bolt rear. The 3rd digit in the Vin should be a #4. Ask the owner if there is any proof that it has the SS option package, otherwise it is probably just another copy.

Try the Tag Team forum. This is where the decoding of VINs, Trim Tags, etc. is done. You can do a search and use "Identify 68 SS". You will get back lots of posts to gather your information.
