I have heard that if you hook up an original tach to an HEI distributor you will fry the tach. Any truth to this. I want to make sure before I install the tach. Also it may be possible to convert the tach so it won't be damaged. Anyone know what is done to the tach and who can do it.

There is nothing to worry about. It works fine like it is. Just plug the wire that would normaly go to the coil, into the TACH terminal of the HEI dist.

No problem here. I droped a ZZ-502 with a HEI dist in a 69 and hooked up the stock tach. Works fine.

I put an HEI in my 68 with factory tach and ever since then it has read 100-1500 rpm too high. I have taken the dash off and can't see anything wrong. Maybe my tach is off. Anyone else experienced this?
