Are there any documented or known cases of a dealership adding the strips to a 69 Z? The reason I ask is that my car was originally black and has a - - paint code, but as far back as I have been able to trace it (1972) it has had white stripes on it also. I was just wondering if maybe it sat on the lot and wasn't selling without the stripes, so the dealership added them.

Adding stripes would have been simple for any dealership with a bodyshop.
Your car may have been factory built in black with white stripes. Our db has a - - PNT Z/28 built that way. Some black cars had a paint code, some did not. Early in the model year black was not an RPO color. Later in the model year it became optional but was extra cost: $12.65.
