My 68 sits pretty low in the front, but the rear is way to high in the back. I'm going to be replacing the 5 leaf steel springs with fiberglass mono leafs. Anyone out there with a picture of what the ride height looks like with the fiberglass leafs without lowering blocks or any other lowering device in the rear?

Ok, so I can expect slightly less height than what you have. Well, i can't say that I'll be totally satisfied, but I guess at least I'll have the fiberglass mono's. Alright, so how do I lower the rear end of my car then?

No problems with running the lowering blocks? I've heard that you can run into problems with them. I've actually got a set in the garage, but I've been reluctant to use them, due to problems I hear about them breaking, twisting, etc.

I've got 2" blocks in the rear of my 67. I also run lowering blocks in my dirt stock car. I've never broke one yet.

If the U-bolts are checked often you won't have a problem.

The only problem I've had was not related to the blocks - they just happened to be involved. I'm running a Ford 9" rear and it originally had the wimpy Ford spring perches. I did a burnout one day and the torque caused the spring perches to collapse and the rearend rolled upward. There was all kinds of wonderful damage including mangled lowering blocks. But, they didn't cause the problem.

I had mondo Chrysler perches welded on and gusseted up and reinstalled everything with new blocks and 1/2" u-bolts. It's been solid as a rock ever since.

Also, keep in mind that lots of full size 4WD trucks run blocks for lift and subject then to a great deal more torque and abuse than they'll ever see on our cars. They don't seem to have any problems.

Well, Looks like the "I's" have it. The lowering blocks are going on with the Fiberglass springs.

Thanks for writing, everyone. (P.S.) the lowering blocks are very easy to find. I think they are like most GM tranny mounts. Very generic, and fit many applications.
