There is a 12 bolt 4.10 posi rearend for a 68' chevelle and the same for a 65' chevelle for a good price. What my question is, is whether either of these rearends will fit under a first generation camaro? If these won't are there any other cars that will have a rearend that will fit under a first gen camaro?
Thanks for your help

i don't think they will fit. probably too wide. what you could do is, if the price is right, buy one of these and sell it to someone who is looking for one and make a few bucks.

Kyle- I swapped rears in my Nova last year- I replaced a 69 Camaro 10 bolt with a 66 Chevelle 12 bolt and the 12 was only 1/4" wider than the 10.

Kyle,

The chevelle rearend can be modified to be used in a first generation camaro. The coil spring perches need to be removed and replaced with leaf spring perches (welded on) and the axle tubes should be shortened. Which is a great time to put bolt on type axle/bearing ends. This will eliminate the need for C-clips in the carrier. This is a cheaper way to, especially since camaro/nova 12-bolt rearends are scarce and expensive.

If the price is right I'd grab them both and head over to the Chevelle site. Make your deal, take the bucks and buy what you need ready to go. No sense chopping up a good 12 bolt.

pete b,
Do you realize that the '67 Chevelle 12 bolt was a one year only rear end and worth as much or more than a Camaro 12 bolt?

KyleMTB
I think you should buy the Chevelle rear ends and make some money on them and then buy a Camaro 12 bolt for your car. I saw someone on the Chevelle sight just a day or two ago that was trying to put a Camaro 12 bolt in a Chevelle. I hate to see Chevelle people ruining Camaro rear ends and Camaro people ruining Chevelle rear ends. If you need a Camaro 12 bolt I can find one for you. I have access to about 50 12 bolt rear ends.
