Well I guess the restoration is underway so here we go.

This car is very special to me and my father, and it will also be built with the intention of never selling, so stock wont always come first ;)

Little back story on the car, he is the second and the fourth owner. He bought it in 1976 out of Virginia, it was hopped up and run all over the DC area (4.88 gears, big cam, head work ect..) for a few years until lifted trucks grabbed his eye. In 1978 he had a body shop "fix" the rust and do a respray (more on that later ) The car sat for a few years and was sold to a friend who rebuilt the engine, trans and did a minor refresh. Jump to 1985 and Dad bought his Z back. As so often seems to be the case life happened and the car got stuffed back into storage some time in 1987 or so. It has been sitting ever since, luckily in a dry garage! I always grew up hearing stories of Dad's Z but I have never heard it run or seen it move under its own power, now that all is going to change soon. So far we have removed the drivetrain and dropped the gas tank. The plan is to make a car he can actually drive. Sadly the 302 was gone before he got it, but it does have a 302 built from all new GM parts circa 1980.

It is a X33 car and sports a dealer added cowl hood.

So far my list of upgrades are:

Poly bushings everywhere
Adding rear disc brakes
Replacing the Lakewood bars with Caltraks
Hotchkis SFC's
3.73 rear gears to replace the current 3.55's
All new wiring
New brake lines
New fuel lines
TMI sport seats
and the list goes on and on and on...

When done this car will see a few HPDE's and tons of road time.:hurray:

Here is a current album (gotta love the look on my buddies face!)

The next step is to strip the interior and get the front subframe off for cleaning and paint.

Finally started digging into the engine, everything looks awesome except the 1 main bearing is trashed, hoping some machine work can clean it up.

It has the correct windage tray, pink rods, and pistons that look new.
