About a month ago, we had a discussion here about the difference between the "proportioning valve" next to the master cyl, and the one under the driver door, on the frame.
Final judgement was that the valve on the front, was a delay valve, to allow the rear brakes to engage first. The prop valve on the frame reduced the pressure to the rear, because the higher pressure necessary to work the front discs, would cause the drums to lock up.
Well, I don't have the prop valve. (I wish I had known all the above before I replaced everything!) My car is still a garage pet, so I haven't tired the brakes.
Do I have a problem?
Should I install a prop valve? Anyone know where I can get a correct one? Resto houses don't list them.
