[Spames]

My quarter window seal keeps falling off the passenger side. Is there a trick to keeping these things in place? I don't see any damage to the chrome. The ones I got have the metal inside, so I think they are good ones.

I was not happy with the repro as they did not seal quite as well and I found a NOS one for $20.00 on ebay.

There is a small Phillips head screw that holds the strip in place. It goes thru the bottom end in the flat area. If you look on the chrome strip, you will see the screw hole.

Thanks for the offer stinger, but mine is a new repro.

The phillips screw is in it, but sometimes when you close the door, it knocks the seal right out, and it is left dangling held on by the screw. Maybe my problem is with window allignment.

I replaced the one on my driver side rear window and it took major effort to get it slid in place. I even used dish soap and water to lube it up a bit. There's no way it would come off by itself.

Sounds like a bad part or you don't have something right between the rubber glass and chrome.

I wouldn't say that mine goes right up the track easily, but I certainly didn't need to put forth the extra effort you did.

I guess I'll have to examine everything a little closer.

Mine also required MAJOR effort to slide up the channel. I didn't need the screws, but I put them in anyway. When the strip falls out, does it fall down or does it pop out sideways. If it pops out sideways, I would buy a set from another company. Its either a bad piece or your chrome strip is bent aout of shape.

Hey Spames! I tried the same thing, on my 68 and could not understand why we try to bend metal the way it is not supposed to be. throw away the metal ones and buy the solid rubber ones from Paddock. You'll be much happier and less fustrated.

I know you said the chrome isn't damaged but could it be spread out a little? If it got spread a little I could see how it would pop out. Mine also required major effort (and a little white grease) to install.
