I have a 1969 Camaro with the full gauge option.

The Temp gauge works fine until I put the parking lights or the head lights on, the gauge pegs to full hot. The Fuel guage doesn't work (ever)and the Amp doesn't SEEM to work.

I've checked and cleaned the ground under the consol and back by the fuel tank. Both harnesses in the engine compartment are new. I realize it's probably a short some where but don't have a clue as to where to start to look. I have a wiring diagram but, at the risk of sounding stupid, don't understand what it's telling me.

I know electrocal problems are tough to diagnose without actually seeing the car so any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

J.P.

Grounds. Check the grounds for both the front and gauge packages since they are insulated on the plastic housing. Run jumper wires from ground to each gauge and see if that cures it.

Also check the upper center screw on your dash gauge cluster. This is the ground connection for all of the dash gauges and if it comes loose or dirty it will cause problems.
